Note from the Artist
Dear Art Enthusiast,

Autumn, my favorite season, is all too short. It is a visual feast for the landscape painter and I especially love to paint plein air this time of year. Last weekend I painted with a plein air group, Plein Air Artists of West Michigan (PAAWM), just north of Kalamazoo.  PAAWM artists have been painting landscapes of the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy. The Conservancy has published a beautiful 2010 calendar, Painted Sanctuary, featuring the artist’s painted landscapes throughout the past year at the Conservancy sites. My painting Pine Tree Hill is included in the calendar! A special exhibit of Painted Sanctuary, will be held at the Park Trades Center during Kalamazoo’s regular Art Hop, Friday, Nov. 6, 5-9pm. The Park Trades Center is located on the corner of Kalamazoo Ave. and Park St. You may be able to purchase the calendar there or by calling (269)324-1600. The Conservancy web site is www.SWMLC.org. I will have three paintings at this show including the one featured below, Cedar Creek-Sanctuary, painted on site at Cedar Creek Farm.

Grand Gallery in Ada is featuring my work this month and Treeline Gallery in Sutton’s Bay is participating in the Friday night Art Hop, October 23 from 5-9pm. The painting below, Mouth of Otter Creek, will be on display along with other new work.

Warm Regards,
Kathleen
