This summer has been very good for a landscape painter in Michigan. A lot of sunshine and some travel helps to inspire new work of this beautiful state. I just got back from a camping trip on the dunes where I painted and took reference photos for the upcoming Artprize painting. The next trip will be to the Upper Peninsula, where life slows down a bit to enjoy family, do some fishing and of course I will bring my paint box.

Many thanks to all of you who visited my booth at the Ann Arbor show. You must love the art to endure the brutal heat and more than enough rain that we had this year. I am so grateful to my loyal friends and collectors who come to view my paintings every year. You all make it so worthwhile and I love seeing you and meeting new faces.

I have been hard at work getting some new work ready for the Charlevoix Art Fair, coming up this weekend. A few of the paintings are featured below. Also new work will be shown at the North Seas Gallery in downtown Charlevoix. One of the new paintings is “Sail at Twilight”, shown below, of the sailboat Sunshine heading out to the big lake for a sunset cruise. All the new work will be available at the art fair and gallery this weekend, hope to see you there!
